The GS-Series fume hoods in 120/150/180 cm sizes can be equipped with a special “WALK-IN” base unit designed for the integration of instrumentation that may release hazardous substances, but features a human/machine interface height above 90 cm. Typical examples include tissue processors used in anatomical pathology laboratories or grinding mills employed in soil/waste analysis laboratories.

This special configuration includes the complete fume hood assembly, optionally fitted with a vertically sliding front sash with horizontal sliding panels, together with a base cabinet featuring either single or double doors extending from floor level up to the machine support surface.

This special solution provides significant cost savings compared to conventional full walk-in hoods with synchronized dual front sliding sashes, thanks to the reduced mechanical complexity incorporated into the system.

The base unit configuration is available in two external depth dimensions (90/110 cm) and three different versions:

WI:
Double-door base cabinet with a single compartment and floor-mounted containment tray.

WI-LM:
Double-door base cabinet, single compartment with floor-mounted containment tray, plus a lateral structure occupying half of the available internal volume, equipped with both an upper work surface and lower shelf. The upper surface may be fitted with collection basins, washing sinks, or left flat to support instrumentation.

WI-HM:
Single-door base cabinet with only half-width internal compartment, combined with a lateral structure featuring an upper support surface while remaining open underneath. The upper surface may be equipped with collection basins, washing sinks, or left flat for instrumentation placement. The open lower section allows the installation of third-party storage cabinets while still maintaining the possibility of integrating floor-standing equipment.

The upper fume hood section retains all its standard functional characteristics and can therefore operate in all available modes (recirculation, total exhaust, and others).

BASE UNIT CONSTRUCTION

  • Structure made of steel profiles and sheet metal finished in RAL 7035 epoxy powder coating with special antimicrobial MICROFREE® formulation (full AISI 304 stainless steel construction available upon request).
  • Bottom containment tray made of AISI 304 stainless steel without front raised edge to allow easy insertion and removal of machinery installed inside the hood.
